The Sagacious Politician
Farah Rumy is probably the first politician of Sri Lankan origin to be elected as a member of Parliament in the Canton of Solothurn in Switzerland. Her mission is to make a change for the better.

Representing The Social Democratic Party of Switzerland (SP) which is the second largest political party in Switzerland and in the Swiss Parliament, 29 year old Farah Rumy’s foray into politics is driven by her desire to make a change. Born and raised in Colombo, until the age of 6, Farah’s family moved to Switzerland in 1998. A resident of the Canton of Solothurn, Farah has an Advanced Federal Diploma of Higher Education in Nursing (BcS.) and a Master of Advanced Studies in Healthcare Management. Having worked in an Invasive Cardiology Unit, Farah remains committed to use her position in office to campaign for better healthcare in addition to many other causes. Underrepresented in the Swiss political arena, Farah’s journey into politics heralds a new chapter for women of colour and especially those of South Asian heritage.
