High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom Saroja Sirisena hosted a reception to celebrate the 75th independence day of Sri Lanka. The reception which was attended by
over 50 Ambassadors, High Commissioners, Parliamentarians and Lords was a resounding success. Addressing the event the Speaker of the House of Commons Sir Lindsay Hoyle spoke with warm affection of the relationship between the UK and Sri Lanka whilst acknowledging that there had been trying circumstances recently. He spoke about the united love for cricket shared by people of both countries. The large turnout of members of the diplomatic corps and UK politicians and members of the business community is a testament to the exceptional diplomatic relations built by the High Commissioner Sirisena and members of the mission in London.
