The Sri Lanka Association of Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM) acts as the catalyst for the growth of the Sri Lankan IT and BPM Industry by facilitating trade and business, the propagation of education and employment, the encouragement of research and innovation, and By supporting the creation of a progressive national policy framework. SLASSCOM has a membership of over 200 companies and these Companies generate over 90% of the IT/BPM industry export revenue and employment in Sri Lanka.
SLASSCOM targets growing the industry to generate revenue in exports while creating a large number of highly skilled workforce and facilitating a reasonable number of startups by 2025.
To achieve these goals, SLASSCOM has 'forums and accelerators' which are sub-groups who will take up the hands-on efforts which will help them succeed in delivering the required outcome. These forums are: Technology, Quality, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Marketing, Regional Development, HR, Capacity, BPM, and Women Technopreneurs. The accelerators are: Product & Platform Council, AI Centre of Excellence, and the Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence.
Women Technopreneurs Forum
In order to achieve their goal in creating startups in 2025, they need to harness the potential of female tech entrepreneurs. Accordingly the Woman Technopreneurs Forum was initiated to create a positive change across the tech ecosystem in Sri Lanka to support, promote and grow women led startups with the potential to generate additional export revenue into the country. The Women Technopreneurs forum will work in close collaboration with the rest of the forums and CoEs as well as partner with likeminded external chambers and trade associations to benefit from their resources, knowledge and expertise.
Additionally, focus on matters such as enhancing capabilities of existing startups, attract funding, provide mentorship will also be one of the forum's objectives to encourage startups by Women Technopreneurs.
