A multi-talented woman, Thilini Seneviratne has brought honour to Sri Lanka through a series of remarkable achievements. Beginning with her victory as Miss Bristol, she went on to represent her adopted city at the prestigious Miss UK International pageant. Thilini’s talents extend to the world of modelling, where she has been featured in publications such as Vogue Italia. A former student of Ave Maria Convent in Negombo, Thilini holds a degree in Environmental Science from the University of the West of England, Bristol. Her passion for the environment is evident, as she utilized her platform as a pageant winner to raise awareness about environmental issues, particularly the plight of the oceans. Despite residing in the UK as a student without immediate family support, Thilini’s journey stands as a testament to her unwavering determination and resilience.

Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a contestant for Miss UK International?

From a young age, I harboured a deep desire to participate in beauty pageants, fuelled by my passion for advocacy, particularly in environmental conservation, supporting small recycling businesses, especially within the fashion industry and empowering women in science. I saw these platforms as an ideal way to amplify my message, especially with my background as a fashion model. Representing Bristol in the Miss International UK pageant, I embraced the opportunity to celebrate diversity and share my Sri Lankan heritage. Navigating the pageant world as a Sri Lankan with limited experience was daunting, but the supportive atmosphere helped me grow. Through interviews and various rounds, I shared my passions alongside inspiring contestants. The experience enriched me, boosting my self-confidence and highlighting the importance of inner beauty and societal impact. Participating in the pageant marked a significant milestone, requiring resilience and adaptability, especially as a student without immediate family support. I’m grateful for the unwavering support of my aunt and uncle, the Phoenix Range team for their sponsorship, and Kanishka Sangabo for crafting my stunning costume. Special thanks also go to  Chandimal Jayasinghe for his invaluable advice and Coach Harriotte for their continuous guidance throughout this remarkable journey. Their contributions have been instrumental in my success.
