Joining the Italian Foreign service to not only build ties between countries across the globe but also with the intention of seeing the world, Rita Giuliana Mannella has been a longstanding career diplomat. She has served in India, USA and Rome. Her first posting as an Ambassador was to Sri Lanka, where she has already completed a year and half of her tenure. During her time in Sri Lanka, Rita has worked tirelessly to promote bilateral relations between Italy and Sri Lanka. A great art aficionado, Rita has also brought gallerists, artists, chefs, designers, architects and performing artistes from Italy to Sri Lanka in her efforts to enable Sri Lankans to enjoy Italian culture. Effortlessly stylish in her designer clothes, (Italian of course), Rita fulfills her role as a diplomat with aplomb and epitomises the characteristics of a quintessential Ambassador with great finesse.
