In a fix for Father’s Day?

Father’s day is around the corner and with it comes the tough task of figuring out what to get your dad. It might be because they always seem to be content with what they have and rarely fuss over stuff. So here are a few ideas to help you make their day a bit more special and give them the recognition they deserve.

1. Chocolates

Most dads tend to have quite a sweet tooth but rarely get a chance to enjoy their favourite chocolates. So why don’t you spoil them with an assortment of their favourite chocolates or better yet get a customized box of chocolates especially made for your dad. Gerard Mendis is one such place where you can such a box so make sure to check them out.

2. Bow tie

They are making a comeback whether you think your dad looks cool or is a complete fashion faux pau in them. You can either get a ready-made or customized one to suit his personality or match his embarrassing dad vacation outfit. Today there are even wooden bow ties which are making a bigger fashion statement and are available from Amberry, who are active on Instagram.

3. Mug

Every dad deserves a cheesy mug with the wording Super Dad to which he can wake up to every morning. I mean is he even your dad if he doesn’t have the mug? There are quite a few places that offer mug printing services such as anim8 and helloprint to name a few.

4. Watch

If your dad is old fashioned he will never leave home without his only accessory – his beloved watch. True it may be worn out and barely make it another hour, yet you can be sure he will wear it with pride. So why not give him the upgrade he deserves whilst still maintaining his style of course and get him a watch. You can even add a more personal touch by having it engraved.

5. Perfumes

Dad’s love their perfumes and scents so much so that the whole house smells of it when he wears it. Getting him his favourite scent will sure brighten up his day!!

6. Pens

If your dad is a working dad he’s always going to have a pen ready in his left shirt pocket so why not buy him a fancy stylish pen that not only makes him looks good but also reminds him of you!

7. Customized boxes

Better yet get him a box of his favourite things customized to his liking. It can include mugs, cupcakes, ties, cards and whatever else you want. Basketeer, jars of joy, cuppy cakes, La creme Ceylon are just a few online businesses that are doing customized boxes so check them out!

8. Desk ornaments

Pens aside, they also love having items on their desks be it photos of you, drawings or little creations you have made for him throughout school, I’m sure you will find them preserved on his desk. So why not get him some fancy stationery items to brighten up his desk be it post it notes, customized desk pads/notebooks, pen holders, magnets or some colourful paper weights.

9. Have a day out

Most of us fail to spend time with our parents when it reality, it’s those memories that matter. So why don’t you take him out for a meal or go for a day out and have a father-children bonding session which I’m sure is what he really looks forward to. (Even though you have spent the last two months together at home)

10. And finallyyyyyy….

If you are unable to get any of the above a good old handmade card is the way to go. You know your dad will cherish it forever because dads are sentimental when it comes to gifts from their children…….and as you guessed it, it will probably end up sitting proudly on his desk.

Here’s wishing all the father’s out there a very Happy Father’s Day!!
